I work relationally, from a place of respect.
I acknowledge the breadth of experience and training that you bring to your role.
As of March 2024, I have over 800 hours of supervision experience.
I look forward to working with you.
Anna has been my clinical supervisor for over a year and a half now. I cannot speak highly enough of the support, knowledge, input and consistency that she has offered to me. When I began working with her I was a trainee counsellor and in this time I have become qualified.
While working together there have been various experiences and hurdles that have been present for me. These include starting my placement and working with clients, issues with my placement provider, submitting coursework, qualifying and starting to build a small private practice. All with the backdrop of a huge, unexpected shift in my personal circumstances. I was able to share all this with Anna and I felt that she was there with me checking in around what I needed.
I have discussed challenging stuff in supervision in relation to things that my clients have brought. Also around my own story and history. I have never felt judged or shamed and it has allowed me to bring more and more to our sessions which make them richer and always add to my practice. During my time as a trainee, Anna filled in various pieces of paperwork for me and also reports that were submitted to my
diploma provider. She always did so in the time frame discussed.
Anna is very knowledgeable about different counselling theories, approaches and her insight is inspiring. Her consistency is something that I really value. This covers demeanour, time keeping, showing up, being present, following up with resources or links that we have discussed, being accommodating wherever possible but also challenging me in areas that might be beneficial to my practice and growth.
I feel very lucky to have Anna as my supervisor but I do not take this for granted. My diploma provider wanted me to choose a supervisor from a list of professionals they suggested and/ or had connections with. Anna was recommended to me by someone who had her as her own supervisor. We met online and everything we discussed made good sense to me. My course provider was still keen for me to choose a supervisor that they had previous dealings with and I met with a few others but none of the professionals seemed right
for me. I felt quite sure that I wanted Anna as my supervisor. I went back to my course provider with a link to the BACP competency framework which highlighted some specific points and also a message from Julia McLeod recommending Anna as a supervisor and the rest is history as they say.
